As shown in Fig. 1i, j and Additional file 1: Fig. S2c–e, plasma corticosterone (CORT) levels were highest at 6 and 12 h in mice subjected to PHx and APAP-induced liver injury (AILI), respectively, approximately 3-time higher than their basal levels, concomitant with an elevation in nuclear GR protein abundance. This evidence concerns the gene NR3C1 and injury.
