Elevated CRP is associated with stroke risk and poor prognosis.9, –11 CRP has also been found to be related to recurrence in both patients with intracranial and extracranial atherosclerotic disease.12,13 A meta-analysis indicated that elevated CRP is independently associated with a higher risk of stroke and cardiovascular events in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).14 The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is atrial fibrillation.
