Investigating the Aβ-related pathways in pathological AD mouse models, our recent study [6] shows that NIR-tPBMT can downregulate Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent BACE1/2, PSEN1/2, and APP and normalize cholesterol homeostasis via the HMGCR, DHCR7, and INSIG1 genes in the brain cortex and hippocampus. The gene discussed is BACE1; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
