Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), an allergic inflammation of the esophagus, provides a striking example: IL‐13–driven inflammation in EoE causes esophageal epithelial cells to downregulate E‐cadherin and acquire mesenchymal markers, contributing to tissue stiffening and dysmotility. Here, CDH1 is linked to eosinophilic esophagitis.
