IFNA1 and viral infectious disease: Overall, the lethality of the NiV Y166E mutant underscores that STAT1 antagonism by P/V/W is only one aspect of the viral infection/immune evasion/virulence mechanisms, where multiple processes (for example, N protein inhibition of STAT1/2 [45]) form a multipronged strategy for efficient inhibition of the IFN response.
