TCP1 and parasitic infectious disease: We have developed a novel antimalarial chemotype that has potent activity against the main life cycle stages of Plasmodium parasites, with our lead candidate (T111) meeting all five current target candidate profiles proposed by Medicines for Malaria Venture: molecules that clear asexual blood-stage parasitemia (TCP-1); are active against hypnozoites (TCP-3); are active against hepatic schizonts (TCP-4); that block transmission by targeting parasite gametocytes (TCP-5); and that block transmission by targeting the insect vector (TCP-6)11,16.
