The present study predicted five novel genes for MPOX and its neurological manifestations, including CFHR3, C5AR1, C3AR1 (complement-associated genes), IFNA2, and CXCL3. One of the main arms of innate immunity in viral infections, the complement system mediates numerous important antiviral activities, including the recruitment of neutrophils, the activation of leukocytes, the neutralization of viruses, inflammation, and the formation of membrane attack complexes on infected cells (Mellors et al., 2020; Afzali et al., 2022; Ostrycharz and Hukowska-Szematowicz, 2022). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL3 and viral infectious disease.
