Recently, Vander H. T., et al. demonstrated that the specific NLRP3 small molecule inhibitor, MCC950 (Figure 2), attenuates carotid plaque size in atherosclerosis in apoE ‐/‐ mice by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation in monocytes and macrophages in mice [69]. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is atherosclerosis.
