After treatment with AOM‐DSS, Il18 ‐/‐ mice were more apt to produce tumors than controls, while injection of recombinant IL‐18 successfully inhibited disease progression, suggesting that IL‐18 has potential protective and antitumor functions and repair of epithelial damage in CA‐CRC, implying that production of cytokines such as IL ‐18 could be a potential therapeutic candidate for CRC [101]. This evidence concerns the gene IL18 and colorectal carcinoma.
