In a guinea pig model of form-deprivation myopia (FDM) and 532-nm laser treatment, choroidal neovascularization was observed along with upregulation of the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1)-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling pathway, indicating the presence of tissue ischemia and hypoxia. Here, VEGFA is linked to myopia.
