In our previous study, we discovered that USP8, a deubiquitinase, stabilizes ID1 by removing its ubiquitin chains, thereby promoting the growth of ESCC.[13] This finding highlights the essential role of ubiquitination in the development of ESCC and suggests the existence of a specific E3 ubiquitin ligase that facilitates ID1 ubiquitination. This evidence concerns the gene USP8 and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
