Since NGF and BDNF were included in the list of genes related to choroid, neovascularization, and myopia, and since these neurotrophins exert crucial neuroprotective efforts on insulted retina, the aim of the present study was to characterize their levels in myopic aqueous and the related protein/receptor expression by lens epithelial cells (LEC) from subjects who underwent cataract surgery. This evidence concerns the gene BDNF and myopia.
