Another investigation involving 251 patients (mean age [± SD] 72 ± 15 years; including 5 cases of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), 23 cases of ischemic stroke, and 14 cases of stroke mimics in the prehospital phase; along with 59 cases of ICH, 148 ischemic strokes, and 2 cases of stroke mimics in the hospital phase) revealed that GFAP and UCH-L1, when assessed by a rapid biological test, were significantly elevated in patients with ICH compared to those with other conditions. The gene discussed is GFAP; the disease is intracerebral hemorrhage.
