IL6 and neoplasm: The cytokine IL‐6 has been reported to act mainly through its receptor IL6R and the JAK/STAT3, Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK, and the PI3K/Akt signalling pathways, which are involved in tumor proliferation, survival, and angiogenesis [18], whereas another prominent cytokine, TNFα, has been reported to activate the nuclear factor‐κB (NF‐κB) and c‐Jun NH2‐terminal kinase (JNK) signalling pathways acting via its designated receptors, TNFRSF1A and TNFRSF1B [19].
