Young patients with lung cancer are also significantly more likely to be female (4, 47) or Asian/Pacific Islander (48), have no tobacco use history (49), metastasis to the brain (50), and a higher frequency of somatic mutations or rearrangements such as EGFR, ALK, RET, and ROS1 (49, 51, 52) (Figure 1). This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and lung carcinoma.
