Interestingly, in a non‐small cell lung cancer study, ABCG2 was expressed at low levels in NSCLC with no correlation to lung cancer aggressiveness, yet higher expression was associated with improved overall survival (Jelen et al., 2024), suggesting that despite its low expression and genetic variability, ABCG2 plays a crucial role in lung cancer patient survival and may influence the effectiveness of cancer therapy. The gene discussed is ABCG2; the disease is lung cancer.
