[36], drugs stabilizing the tense state of Hb to enhance O2 delivery show therapeutic potential for ischemia-related cardiovascular conditions like angina, myocardial ischemia, stroke, and trauma [17, 18, 20, 25, 42, 50], while relaxed state stabilizers, increasing Hb’s O2 affinity, offer promise for sickle cell disease [1–4, 15, 31–35, 40, 51, 54, 58, 60]. This evidence concerns the gene GSTM1 and myocardial ischemia.
