A genome-wide association study identifies cadherin related family member 3 (CDHR3) as a susceptibility locus for severe early childhood asthma exacerbation and CDHR3 can mediate RV-C entry into host cells, thereby causing wheezing diseases and exacerbation of asthma (Bønnelykke et al., 2014; Bochkov et al., 2015). The gene discussed is CDHR3; the disease is asthma.
