In detail, this study aimed (i) to assess the cross‐sectional associations between plasma afamin and NAFLD liver fat score (NAFLD LFS), hepatic steatosis index (HSI), fatty liver index (FLI) and fibrosis‐4 (FIB‐4) index, (ii) to investigate if higher afamin levels are associated with higher increases in these indices during 6.5 years of follow‐up and (iii) to study possible modifying effects of sex and glucose tolerance status on these associations in individuals from the population‐based KORA F4/FF4 cohort. This evidence concerns the gene AFM and fatty liver disease.
