TWEAK-Fn14 axis is a major upstream target of nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) signaling axis.[36] It is central to the incidence and progression of sarcopenia.[37] By activating NF-κB signaling, TWEAK can trigger a series of reactions.[38] TNF-α is a major inflammatory factor produced in response to this NF-κB activation that has been mechanistically linked to sarcopenia development. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and sarcopenia.
