NTSR1 and cancer: Nitroreductase (NTR) is a reductase that catalyzes the reduction of aromatic nitro to amino.[29] It plays an essential role in maintaining physiological redox balance and is associated with the development of various diseases and the progression of cancers.[30, 31, 32] Recently, some studies have indicated that NTR levels are generally upregulated in liver diseases, such as liver injury, fibrosis, and cancer.[33, 34, 35] However, the level of NTR in liver cirrhosis has rarely been studied.
