These include PI3K-Akt-mTOR and AMPK-mTOR pathways.7 Previously, it was indicated that the (PI3K-Akt-mTOR) represent the primary pathway which is responsible for regulating a variety of cellular behaviors such as growth, apoptosis, and autophagy.7 The activation of (PI3K/Akt/mTOR) signaling pathway in atherosclerosis may provide insight on the therapeutic role of inhibiting this pathway to control the development of atherosclerosis. Here, AKT1 is linked to atherosclerosis.
