However, based on findings in other malignancies, such as colorectal cancer (36), and the fact that IL-38 binds to the IL-36 receptor and exhibits immune-regulatory effects similar to the IL-36 receptor antagonist (37), we speculate that IL-36 may promote PCa progression through its pro-inflammatory activity—potentially by enhancing M1 macrophage polarisation.
