Intriguingly, recent studies have reported that INPP5D acts downstream of TREM2 to regulate the microglial barrier against Aβ toxicity in AD [44]; TREM2 and HLA-DRB gene families are collectively linked to neuroinflammation throughout the AD continuum [45]; and ZCWPW1 and CELF1 are co-upregulated in PPARγ-knockdown cell lines associated with AD [46] and in the context of AD risk polymorphisms [47].
