BRCA gene mutations have been shown in two meta-analyses to be associated with a high increased risk of pancreatic cancer (RR 2.65; 95% CI 1.43–4.91), with an indication this risk is higher in BRCA2 (RR 5.12; 95% CI 3.17–8.27) than in BRCA1 (RR 1.71; 95% CI 1.16–2.52) mutations.46 This evidence concerns the gene BRCA2 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
