SALL1 and staphylococcal infection: Of particular interest are endolysins tailored to combat staphylococcal infections, exemplified by the clinical assessment of Exebacase and Tonabacase based on native endolysins PlySs2 (Schuch et al. 2014) and SAL-1 (Jun et al. 2014), as well as engineered endolysins MEndoB (Roehrig et al. 2024), and SA.100 and XZ.700 based on the Ply2638A scaffold (Eichenseher et al. 2022).
