Germline (inherited) mutations confer an increased risk of developing prostate cancer and include the following genes: BRCA1, BRCA2, ATM, ATR, mismatch repair (MMR) genes (MSH2, MSH6, and PMS2), CHEK2, RAD51D, NBS1, and PALB2.28 Here, BRCA1 is linked to prostate carcinoma.
