Notably, CHIT1 was the most significantly overexpressed gene, consistent with reports of its elevation in the sera and lymph nodes of sarcoidosis patients, and its pharmacological blockade is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for active pulmonary sarcoidosis (NCT06205121).[24] These findings suggest that the gene expression effects observed in muscle biopsies may extend to other sarcoidosis-affected tissues, broadening the potential impact of this research. This evidence concerns the gene CHIT1 and sarcoidosis.
