Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a crucial member of the neurotrophin family, alongside nerve growth factor, neurotrophin-3, and neurotrophin-4/5, and has emerged as a key modulator of metabolic processes, with conditions like obesity and type 2 diabetes influencing its expression [1,2,3]. Here, BDNF is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
