Given that several types of HSPGs have been demonstrated to be expressed by cells within the cerebrovascular system and implicated in the pathogenesis of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) [34,35,36], we performed co-staining of the vascular smooth muscle cell marker α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) with Aβ (6E10). This evidence concerns the gene ACTA1 and cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
