In another case–control study [35], the investigators assessed the specific association between liver cancer risk and PPARGC1A polymorphisms in a Moroccan population, confirming that PPARGC1A serves as a common prognostic marker for hepatocellular carcinoma, and that the PPARGC1A rs8192678 polymorphism is strongly associated with an increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma in the Moroccan population. The gene discussed is PPARGC1A; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
