From the correlation between the clinical data of the patients whose biopsies were investigated, and the results obtained from the measurement of the fluorescence intensity of MAGI2, there was no direct correlation between the development of nephrotic syndrome and the downregulation of this protein, suggesting that other proteins and other mechanisms in addition to the reduced expression of MAGI2 may have a role in the onset of the nephrotic syndrome. The gene discussed is MAGI2; the disease is nephrotic syndrome.
