A linear regression analysis of 18,575 genes co-expressed with PRNP unexpectedly revealed GPX8, a paralog of GPX4, to have the highest degree of correlation of all genes (Pearson = 0.621, P (two-tailed) <0.0001; 1393 lines, Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia; Fig. 1D). The gene discussed is PRNP; the disease is cancer.
