AFP and coinfection: Regarding the mean value of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)—a key biomarker for liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma—the highest mean value among study groups had been observed at 7.36 IU/mL in the cohort with HDV-HBV co-infection, and a minimum value of 3.49 IU/mL between the cohorts, of the HCV-HBV co-infection group, with a statistically significant difference between them (p-value = 0.0368) (Table 2).
