NDDs characterized by the accumulation of alpha-synuclein (α-syn) in neurons and non-neuronal cells in the brain are called synucleinopathies, including Parkinson’s disease (PD), Parkinson’s disease dementia (PDD), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), multiple system atrophy (MSA) and pure autonomic failure (PAF) [2,3]. This evidence concerns the gene SNCA and synucleinopathy.
