KCNJ5 and hypertensive disorder: Moreover, patients with KCNJ5 mutant APAs (n = 17) were on a significantly lower number of antihypertensive medications compared to other mutants (n = 16; 3 ± 0.4 vs. 5 ± 0.3; p = 0.016), indicating less resistant hypertension, and having a more pronounced suppression of renin (plasma active renin 2.9 ± 0.1 vs. 3.5 ± 0.3, p = 0.013).
