Using proteomic techniques, Yu et al. determined that the combination of mitochondrial dysfunction-associated protein:Prohibitin (PHB), ubiquinol-cytochrome c reductase hinge protein (UQCRH) and platelet activation-associated protein:Glycoprotein Ib Platelet Subunit Alpha (GP1BA), FINC could most accurately identify cognitive decline in patients with MCI and AD and these proteins are positively correlated with MMSE scores, suggesting that platelet markers have early diagnostic value in AD (Yu et al., 2021).
