Multiple studies suggest that various methyltransferases, including members of the NOL1/NOP2/SUN domain (NSUN) family that constitute established m5C writers in RNAs, are associated with migration, invasion and metastasis in breast cancer, whereas the high expression of the m5C reader, ALYREF, has been correlated with poor survival in patients suffering from breast cancer (Klec et al. 2022; Okamoto et al. 2012). Here, ALYREF is linked to breast carcinoma.
