ALB and acute kidney injury: In cirrhotic patients undergoing liver surgery, acetate‐buffered solutions are preferred for vascular filling over Hartmann's solution or 0.9% saline. When colloid solutions are required, albumin is recommended as the first choice over artificial colloids due to the risks of acute kidney injury and anaphylaxis associated with the latter. Preoperative optimization with albumin supplementation may be considered in selected cases.
