The expression of LYVE-1 was also shown to be downregulated in cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma [64, 66]; the downregulation of LYVE-1, the scavenger hyaluronan receptor, likely resulting in overexpression of hyaluronan and nuclear translocation of CD44-mediated pyruvate kinase M2 and thereby leading to the progression and poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma [64, 66, 67]. Here, CD44 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
