ALB and diabetic kidney disease: DKD more typically refers to a reduction in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) (i.e., eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2) or the presence of albuminuria (urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio [UACR] > 30 mg/g) in the setting of diabetes without another identifiable cause, but eGFR and albuminuria have diagnostic and prognostic limitations.
