A study from Taiwan (China) indicates that SGLT2 inhibitor dapagliflozin protects doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in patients with breast cancer by reducing apoptosis and diminishing the expression of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-associated proteins, including glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78), protein kinase RNA-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK), eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 alpha (eIF-2α), activating transcription factor 4 (ATF-4), and C/EBP-homologous protein (CHOP) (38). The gene discussed is WEE1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
