Most cell types express ZBTB16 at very low levels in unstimulated conditions, but a robust induction of ZBTB16 expression by glucocorticoids has been reported in numerous cell lines, such as human endometrial cells (Fahnenstich et al. 2003, Arlier et al. 2023), natural killer T (NKT) cells (Mao et al. 2016), leukemia cell lines (Wasim et al. 2010), human pancreatic islets (Aylward et al. 2021), breast cancer cell lines (Prekovic et al. 2023), and cerebral organoids (Krontira et al. 2024).
