We treated the human corneal epithelial cells with lonidamine at 2 h post‐infection (Figure 5B), corresponding to the time point when viral replication is expected to be active. Subsequent to the treatment, we assessed the cells 2‐h later and detected significantly decreased expression of the viral replication markers HSV1‐gD and ICP0 in lonidamine‐treated cells compared to the untreated control cells (Figure 5C,D).
