IL6 and diabetes mellitus: Higher serum C-reactive protein levels (6.6 ± 12.3 mg/dL, p = 0.04) along with higher levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6 (1.59 ± 1.19, pg/mL, p = 0.01) and TNF-α (1.49 ± 0.55 pg/mL, p = 0.01) indicated greater systemic inflammation in participants with diabetes.
