Besides WS, nonsynonymous SNPs in the WRN gene were associated with physiological traits and age‐related diseases, including short stature (Lango Allen et al. 2010), head circumference in infant (Taal et al. 2012), cardiovascular disease (Christoffersen et al. 2017; Luke et al. 2007), dyslipidemia (Kathiresan et al. 2009), diabetes (Hirai et al. 2005), osteoporosis (Mori and Zhou 2016), and ocular cataracts (Jiang et al. 2013). Here, WRN is linked to metabolic syndrome.
