We reported that increased tissue levels of the vasoconstrictor 15‐hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (15‐HETE) during myocardial ischemia result in pericyte contraction through activation of the G‐protein coupled receptor 39 (GPR39) (Alkayed et al., 2022; Methner et al., 2021) that leads to an increase in pericyte cytosolic Ca2+ resulting in their contraction and capillary constriction (Methner et al., 2021). The gene discussed is GPR39; the disease is myocardial ischemia.
