Biomarkers of kidney injury, such as neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and kidney injury molecule 1 (KIM-1), have been promising in the evaluation of AKI, as well as endothelial biomarkers such as angiopoietin-1 (Ang-1), which has been suggested as a good predictor of AKI in Bothrops envenoming (Mota et al., 2021; Stanski et al., 2023). This evidence concerns the gene HAVCR1 and acute kidney injury.
