High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was indicative of a compound heterozygous for beta-thalassemia and HbS (HbS-76%, HbA2-5.3%, HbA-7.7%), and other investigations, such as serum homocysteine, iron profile, and coagulation profile, were normal. This evidence concerns the gene HBA2 and Beta-thalassemia.
