Mutations in the human GIGYF2 gene are genetically linked to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) gene database (https://gene.sfari.org/) classifies mutations of GIGYF2 as a category 1 (high confidence) risk factor for ASD (some of the mutations in GIGYF2 gene are shown in Fig 1) (Iossifov et al, 2014; Lim et al, 2017; Rubinstein et al, 2018; Wang et al, 2020; Zhou et al, 2022). This evidence concerns the gene GIGYF2 and autism spectrum disorder.
