Our results revealed that, when administered in a model of peripheral nerve injury induced by sciatic nerve cuffing, the WGPO-enriched diet preserved muscle fiber diameter and prevented the upregulation of atrophy-related genes such as Atrogin-1 and Murf-1, markers of proteasome-mediated degradation pathways typically activated in muscle-wasting conditions. The gene discussed is TRIM63; the disease is peripheral nerve injury.
